4th June 2021Food day for our eco-delegates
On Wednesday March 23, a sustainable food day was organized at the Kyoto high school in Poitiers. The students Tiago BORREGA, elected to the CVL, and Hantz Vanoosthuyse, elected eco-delegate, accompanied Mr Marquant, sustainable development manager, and Mrs Janot, CPE to this day full of promise. The Kyoto high school, an establishment with the High Environmental Quality (HQE) label, offers training in the hotel and catering trades, personal assistance services, regional planning and quality control laboratories.
We start this day with a warm welcome around a breakfast with products from local producers. After this convivial moment, we open the day on our journey around the theme "Social justice and food solidarity".
Our first workshop is an associative village in the entrance hall of the Lycée. We will retain a conversation around a bread gachimeter, posters on seasonal foods, produced in our region of New Aquitaine, the production of a fruit juice by Hantz thanks to a mixer mounted on a bicycle and a series of photography on food products for a week in different families around the world.
Our second workshop is presented by the association “les bols solidaires”. The project is to recover the food surplus from the school canteen of the Marguerite de Valois high school and repackage it into a tray of bowls for the students of Angoulême. The association takes care of packaging, transport and distribution to registered students.
At the lunch break, we enjoy a menu, prepared by high school students, around local products. The sun being in the game, the students were delighted with this convivial moment.
When we resume our journey, the Regalade association offers us a cooking workshop to prepare healthy, simple and accessible dishes and desserts. Hantz and Tiago prepared an onion confit for us and Mme Janot, an apple-pear compote.
After this tasting workshop, we end the tour with the presentation of the food bank, its role and its objectives: prevention, donation, donation for animals and composting/methanization. We will retain a figure: 30% of food waste in the world.
This rich day ends with a snack to take away for the return to high school.
